Dundee is the major city on the banks of the Tay Estuary It sits on the north end of the Tay Road Bridge and oversees the ebb and flow of the river Tay . Dundee is a major shopping centre in the area and it's history as a port includes whaling and jute production. It remains a busy port to this day but the whaling and jute to a large extent is part of it's past. It is also known as the home of RSS Discovery, the ship Scott of the Antartic used to reach the South Pole. The "City Of Discovery" is now the final home for the vessel and can be seen at Discovery Quay on the waterfront.

The Law Hill - Dundee is built on it's slopes. From the top of the hill a panoramic view of the estuary can be seen. The Law is a long extinct volcano. A memorial beacon is situated on it's summit and a visit to the top of the law is a must for any Dundonian or visitor to the city.
