Tayport is located on the Fife coast of the Tay estuary at the mouth of the river Tay. It is a historic harbour town with views of the Broughty Ferry coastline and Tentsmuir Forest. It was originally known as Ferry-Port-on-Craig and was in the past a ferry port and rail link. It is now a quiet village increasingly attracting new residents particulary commuters to Dundee and Edinburgh.
